Hey, I may be a bit "off kilter"

BIRDS !
I really Love
Creating these Life-Like, Life-Sized,
It's become a Passion for Me, ever since I was visited by a Hummingbird one spring morning in '07.
Ever since then, My goal has been to reproduce them as faithfully and acurately as I can.
I truly hope You enjoy seeing what I create and I'd appreciate any feedback whatsoever, anytime.

Inspired By the Fella that visited Below !
He's Often sighted directly across from Our home !
Even now, He's nesting several houses away, on the lackawaxen,
high up in a big dead tree.
He often can be spotted in a closer tree on My property,
but once He see's Me trying to get his picture,
Off he goes, demanding His privacy once again !
Isn't He Majestic !?
(VERY HARD TO SPOT MOST TIMES ! )
These two Eagle photos , I just took in August, 2011
show how as soon as He saw Me sneak closer to photograph Him,
Up Up and AWAY and off into the distance He went
with a powerful "Shwooshing" sound !!!

BARRISTERS FALCON
A Very Special guest that visits Me,

" BARRISTERS FALCON "
He perches almost daily across from My front yard !
Isn't He Beautiful ?
Only for the past 2 years, starting in 2008, This beautiful Barristers Falcon,
has been building a family nearby as best as I can tell.
Now, He perches in a high branch , along the Riverbank,
only 100 feet from My front door !
When He takes Flight, He looks like a 747 taking off.
He's
Huge!
The woosh of His wings are a tremendous sound to behold.

Being the "Perfectionist" that I am,
(Drives Me NUTS Sometimes,but I can't help it ! LOL !)
I always strive
to do my
very best
to capture the life like qualities of
the Beautiful Birds
that visit My home each day
during Summer,
and then
translate those details
into the Wood !
I take great pains and pleasure
to add feather details,
lifelike Eyes
and whenever possible,
legs and feet when appropriate.
Most all of My Wooden Bird Sculptures
are
POSED
" I N F L I G H T " .
With their wings outstretched , appearing Ready to
" Fly off, right into Your life~! "
All of My birds are Life Sized, and Life Like
as I can possibly make them
and
All are posed
and
mounted onto a
blended natural and handmade setting.
Once I'm satisfied
with the Sculpture, I paint & finish
each when appropriate, with Acrylics,
&
3 coats of Polyurethane.
Each Sculpture is inconspicuously

Born of this very Pine Log.
Just before last Holloween,
I was commissioned by a lovely couple,
who asked Me
to create a "Memorial Gift" from the tree which
was planted by His best friends Mother
when they were just School kids.
I milled this log section
into usable lumber,
and
transformed it into this
Beautiful Wooden Dove by Hand.
(seen below)
My customer specifically asked me not to paint it,
in order to allow the Natural Wood grain to remain visible,
and finish it in a High gloss, "glass like" finish.
My customer ALWAYS
gets what they want !!!
